Rig tension gauge
The PT-1 M rig tension gauge from Loos & Co is the standard tuning aid for many One Design sailors.
Many tuning guides refer to rig tensions measured with Loos gauges. The gauge is placed on the wire and the spring slide is hooked into it. The tension can be read off the calibrated scale. The printed table shows the tension in kg and the percentage of breaking load for each wire diameter. "M" stands for metric wire sizes.
Suitable for the following wire diameters,
The wire diameter only matters if you want to read the exact breaking load from the diagram. Tuning guides usually refer to the gauge type, in which case the measured value is what counts.
